I am a Licensed Clinical Social worker offering professional and affordable therapy for sexuality, relationships, families, or individuals.
It takes a brave person to seek therapy, and even being here says that you are ready for a life with more. More understanding, more meaning, more connection, whatever it may be. We can find your more together.
My goal will always be to work with you in a way that you feel understood and talk with you in a way that you feel respected and heard. I work from many perspectives – strengths-based, pleasure positive, culturally responsive, trauma informed – with the understanding that every person is a unique and profound being living in a complex world filled with hate, love, power, and oppression. I work with every individual, no matter race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, sexual orientation, sexuality, gender identity, ability, or age.
Let your journey to more begin today!
**Please note that I am pregnant and will be taking maternity leave starting sometime in January.
Benefits of Therapy
"Therapy is only for crazy or weak people."
Therapy is often stigmatized as being for weak people. Consider this though: when you have a broken leg, do you consider going to the doctor a sign of weakness? Probably not. We are made up of mind, body, heart, and spirit, and if you neglect an area the whole greatly suffers. Attending therapy is not a sign of weakness, it is a sign of strength. By taking that step you are admitting that you are worth more and want to be more.
"My problem isn't big enough for therapy"
No problem is too small! Often small problems become big problems if they go unaddressed. Smaller problems are also often easier and quicker to address. And any problem that causes discomfort is worth fixing because it can only mean a better life for you!
"It's going to be embarrassing or awkward and I don't want to be judged."
Believe me when I say that there is almost nothing you could say that would surprise me or make me think any less of you. Life is a diverse and beautiful experience that looks different for everyone! Sharing your struggle is a confidential and safe process and will go at the pace with which you are comfortable.
*I am currently pregnant and getting close to my due date. I will not be accepting new clients until April 1, 2018. Please contact Kamara McAndrews (719-684-3638) or Michelle McShane (719-354-2782) for sex and relationship therapy services. I am sorry for any inconvenience. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
